Introduction
Virgin Island Wellness was co-created and founded by Tom Drillot, Transformational Therapist™ and Kirana Kefalos, M.D. Tom has been practicing yoga, meditation and mindfulness since 1976. Kirana has been practicing medicine, yoga and meditation since 1985. They combined their interest in the healing arts and movement, their desire to share and connect with others and their love for the tropical climate and friendly feel of St. Croix by establishing Virgin Island Wellness. Join them on a healing journey of renewal and self-discovery!

KIRANA KEFALOS, M.D.Kirana Kefalos, M.D.
Dr. Kefalos received her doctorate in medicine from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland Ohio. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital. She then completed her residency in New Haven, CT at the Hospital of St. Rapheal’s, affiliated with the Yale University School of Medicine. She is board certified in Internal Medicine. Dr. Kefalos was awarded her bachelor’s of science degree, with distinction, from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Dr. Kefalos practiced internal medicine for 20 years in New Haven, CT where she was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. In addition to seeing patients she taught medical students, interns and residents. She also held meditation classes, “Conscious Living” classes and “Practicing Presence” sessions.

She was voted by her peers as One of the 100 Best Doctors in Connecticut in a 2002 survey done by Connecticut Magazine.

She was then honored with being named as “One of the Best Doctors in America” in 2003-2004 and again in 2005-2006.

Dr. Kefalos has focused on preventative care from the start of her medical career. She deepened her approach to prevention and healthful lifestyles by doing a clinical training at the Harvard Mind Body Medical Institute in Boston MA. She has attended three retreats with the spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle, including “Practicing Presence for Health Care Professionals.” In her work with groups and individuals she also draws on the work of many other teachers in the traditional, integrative and energetic medical fields, including Deepak Chopra, Andrew Weil, Christiane Northrup, Caroline Myss, Judith Orloff, and Donna Eden, among others.

Dr. Kefalos has a strong interest and working knowledge of the relationship of nutrition, exercise and mindfulness of daily living to wellness and disease (dis-ease of any kind). She will work with you to develop practical changes and additions to your lifestyle. Her suggestions will enable you to optimize your physical health, enhance your emotional well being and heighten your spiritual vitality.

Tom also works as a Color Consultant, specializing in the therapeutic effects of Full Spectrum Paint and Lighting.

Sonja Dickerson-Faust

Sonja Dickerson-Faust has been teaching Pilates since 2002. She holds three certifications from Polestar, in Mat I, II, and III, and Props, Studio and Allegro. She also holds two certifications from Lolita San Miguel. Sonja is a member of the Pilates Method Alliance, The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance, the Cecchetti Societies of USA and England.

After retiring from professional dance Sonja moved to St. Croix in 1989. Sonja is pictured in the restored sugar mill on the grounds of The Buccaneer where some of our private and semi-private sessions are held. Meditation gatherings are also held here. She can also be called upon for water aerobics, senior fitness, ballroom dance and ballet. Sonja is available for private classes.
